All accepted papers, both those for oral and for poster presentation, must be prepared as indicated below and final camera ready versions must be uploaded to IEEE Conference eXpress site in order for them to be published in the proceedings.

Critical: Failing to comply with all the required* elements will lead to the removal of the paper from the technical program and the conference record.

It is important for all IEEE authors to recognize that plagiarism in any form, at any level, is unacceptable and is considered a serious breach of professional conduct, with potentially severe ethical and legal consequences.

*Revise your Paper
Please read the reviews and follow the reviewers' recommendations for revising your final paper. When you are done with revising, please print out your paper and proofread it. Review formatting requirements at http://www.ieee.org/conferencepublishing

*Register for the Conference

At least one author must register for the conference by 30 August 2006 noon (EST) as the presenter. 

ComSoc policy states that all accepted IEEE GLOBECOM 2006 technical paper presenters must register at the FULL or LIMITED rate. 

For authors presenting multiple papers, one FULL or LIMITED registration is valid for up to three papers.

It is imperative that the same author must upload the paper(s), review and approve PDFs and submit copyright form. (only one e-mail address can be identified to a registration code).

When you are done with the registration, you will be given a Registration Code, which will be needed to upload your paper in the following step. If you are registering by fax, please allow 3 working days to receive your "Registration Code"

Do not delay in making VISA arrangements for entry into the United States if needed. Such arrangements are the responsibility of authors and other participants and may take up to a few months.

Paper Submission

IEEE Conference eXpress Site will be open on 3 July 2006. Your paper must be received by
30 August, 2006 (noon EDT) for it to be in the proceedings.
If you are registering by fax, please allow 3 working days to receive your "Attendee ref #".

You will need the following to upload your source file.

  • Conference ID: Use glo2006 for this conference.
  • Your registration code: given after you completed your registration
  • Your EDAS paper ID number (not your EDAS author account number)
    Your EDAS paper number begins with (15689)

If you experience technical problems uploading your paper, email IEEE eXpress at d.graffox@ieee.org

After you upload your final paper and approve the PDF, a link will appear in your IEEE eXpress account: Submit Copyright" that enables you to complete the IEEE e(electronic)Copyright form. When you receive your confirmation email after completing the electronic form (by selecting Submit), you will not need to fax or mail a paper copyright form.

CRITICAL: You must upload the final version of your source file and complete the copyright transfer no later than 30 August, 2006 noon EDT. If you fail to comply, the paper will be dropped from the program. NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GRANTED BEYOND THE DEADLINE.

If you wish to purchase reprints of your paper, please complete the Reprints form and remit payment by 1 November 2006. If your paper is longer than 5 pages, please complete the Overlength Form and remit it with payment by 1 November 2006.

Session Assignments

Accepted papers are assigned to specific sessions and will include both oral and poster presentation formats. Assignments are found in your acceptance notification and on the EDAS site. The session reference code designates the day (T=Tuesday, W=Wednesday, and R=Thursday) in the first position, the oral or poster assignment (number for oral presentation and P for poster presentation) in the second position, and the time of the presentation in the third position (see Conference Program for details).

Audio - Visual
Each technical session room will be set with an LCD projector, lavaliere microphone and laser pointer. Please bring your own laptop. Speaker rehearsal room with LCD projector will be available from Monday 27 November - Thursday 30 November 8:00 - 18:00 for presenters who wish to rehearse their presentations. (Check on-site program for exact location).

Poster Presentation
Poster sessions are a good medium for authors to present papers and meet with interested attendees for in-depth technical discussions. In addition, attendees find the poster sessions a good way to sample many papers in parallel sessions. Thus it is important that you display your message clearly and noticeably to attract people who might have an interest in your paper.

ORGANIZATION OF IDEAS: Your poster should cover the key points of your work. It need not, and should not, attempt to include all the details; you can describe them in person to people who are interested. The ideal poster is designed to attract attention, provide a brief overview of your work, and initiate discussion. Carefully and completely prepare your poster well in advance of the conference. Try tacking up the poster before you leave for the conference to see what it will look like and to make sure that you have all of the necessary pieces.

DIMENSIONS: For your poster, you will have one board that is of size 4'x6'. The boards are made of PVC and adhesives (double-sided tape) will be provided. Make sure your items are not too heavy because the tape cannot support a great deal of weight.

FORMATTING: The title of your poster should appear at the top in CAPITAL letters about 25mm high. Below the title put the author(s)' name(s) and affiliation(s). The flow of your poster should be from the top left to the bottom right. Use arrows to lead your viewer through the poster. Use color for highlighting and to make your poster more attractive. Use pictures, diagrams, cartoons, figures, etc., rather than text wherever possible. Try to state your main result in 6 lines or less, in lettering about 15mm high so that people can read the poster from a distance. The smallest text on your poster should be at least 9mm high, and the important points should be in a larger size. Use a sans-serif font (such as "cmss" in the Computer Modern family or the "Helvetica" PostScript font) to make the print easier to read from a distance.

Make your poster as self-explanatory as possible. This will save your efforts for technical discussions. There will not be any summaries given at the beginning of the poster sessions at GLOBECOM 2006, so authors need not prepare any overhead slides for their poster presentations. You may bring additional battery-operated audio or visual aids to enhance your presentation.

TIME: Prepare a short presentation of about 5 or 10 minutes that you can periodically give to those assembled around your poster throughout the 2 hour poster session. If possible, more than one author should attend the session to aid in presentations and discussions, and to provide the presenters with the chance to rest or briefly view other posters.
