This session will take a fascinating and stimulating look at how one of the World’s largest ICT service providers, BT, is architecting its networks and systems to address the challenges and opportunities presented by NGN. The session has invited presentations from lead architects and designers from BT’s 21st Century Networks and Global Services arms, with a refreshing emphasis on the challenges for services to corporate customers. The session will open with a look at BT’s 21st CENTURY NETWORK- the largest investment in NGN in the industry.

Biography:
John Wittgreffe, BT’s ICT Research Chief. John graduated from the University of York in 1989 with a first class honours degree in Physics, and since has worked across a wide range of technical disciplines within the industry, starting with optical networks in the late 1980s, before moving into OSS migration planning for BT’s major systems. John then ran a range of eBusiness developments for corporate customer contracts, including retail logistics, internet shopping, internet voting, and internet finance. John then moved into managed services for corporates, in particular IP-VPNs. John later combined systems and contract experience to lead capability strategy development for BT Global Solutions. John now heads a programme of research and development in ICT systems for BT's major corporate customers. John has won a range of awards for outsanding technological and business achievement, including the Queen's Award, BT's Directorate awards, and BT's business excellence awards. John is happily married with 3 boys, who between them and BT take up all John's time! |
